Academic Life During Covid - 19

Hey guys! How are you today? Since we could decide for our topic freely, I chose to write about online learning and teaching during the pandemic. One of the most oft-used terms after the pandemic is the term “new normal.” The new normal in education is the increased use of online learning tools. The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered new ways of learning. All around the world, educational institutions are looking toward online learning platforms to continue with the process of educating students. The new normal now is a transformed concept of education with online learning at the core of this transformation. Today, digital learning has emerged as a necessary resource for students and schools all over the world. For many educational institutes, this is an entirely new way of education that they have had to adopt. Online learning is now applicable not just to learn academics, but it also extends to learning extracurricular activities for students as well. In recent months, the demand for on...

Final Project

Hey everyone! Since this week’s topic is at our hands again, I’m going to give a detailed description of our final project, which by now you all have seen and took part in, but also those that didn’t have the chance to be present can read about it. Let me describe what it included, how it went, the difficulties we encountered, how did we feel and why was interactive PPT so helpful. The night before the presentation we practiced a lot and felt confident about the content and time management. The PPT presentation included many animations and transitions, which made the lesson better and more interactive and this way kept the students focused and grabbed their attention at all time. It was rather difficult getting everything perfect and according to our liking, because after all there is always place for improvement. The content was well thought and organized: the first slide included opening the lesson with a welcoming phrase written on an animated black board; the second slide held the ...

The Importance of Teaching and Learning Vocabulary English Language

Hello everyone!  For our final project, me and my partner chose vocabulary as the skill we wanted to teach, so all our project revolves around that. That’s why I chose this topic for today’s blog, as I wanted to show why did we decided on this topic specifically and why is it so important. Vocabulary represents one of most important skills necessary for teaching and learning a foreign language. It is the basis for the development of all the other skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing, spelling and pronunciation. Vocabulary is the main tool for the students in their attempt to use English effectively. When confronted with a native English speaker, when watching a movie without subtitle or when listening to a favorite English song, when reading a text or when writing a letter to a friend, students will always need to operate with words. In what follows, the focus of this introductory chapter will be on why vocabulary is important, on what makes wor...

Teaching and the way I see myself performing in this profession

Hey there! It's time for me to post again and by the title, you got an idea what is it about and I hope you all enjoy it. Let's get into it! Teaching is a popular profession, but an underappreciated one. Teachers are the people who shape and inspire the next generation of scientists, inventors, writers, and artists. Without teachers, progress with knowledge and, technology would come to a standstill. Everything would come to a halt intellectually and technologically if there were no longer any teachers. They are under payed and often blamed for events that they have no control over, inside and outside of the classroom. In other countries such as Switzerland, teachers are as respected as lawyers and doctors, so why are the views so different in our country, in Albania? This is why I want to become a teacher, to help with the continuation of growth, the inspiration of children, and equal opportunities. As a future teacher I am aware of the nobility and vital importance of my prof...

Apps and programs used to create projects and much more

Hello everyone! So it’s time for another post again and I hope you like it. Today’s topic is gonna be about apps and programs used to create projects and much more, to be more specific BookWidgets, Kahoot and Projeqt. During our last seminar our friend Meglina introduced us with  BookWidget , since the original tool we were supposed to use was slow and not as easy as this one. What is it? BookWidgets is an easy-to-use platform for creating interactive exercises like exit slips, games, timelines, photo and video-based activities, and so much more. It integrates with other programs like Google Classroom, Canvas, and Moodle. A diverse library of widgets can be used to support all subject areas. Widgets are grouped by test and review (exit slips, flash cards, quizzes, timelines, and worksheets), games (bingo, memory, and crosswords), pictures and videos (hot-spot image, YouTube player, and image carousel), and math (active plot, charts, and arithmetic). You can also embed PDFs, Google ...

Using Technology Tools in PBL

Hello everyone, hope you’re doing great! So lets get started on todays topic, and by the title you already have an idea what is gonna be about.  Successful technology integration is more than just getting the tools into the classroom. Throughout the learning process, technology is used to acquire, organize, demonstrate, and communicate in student-teacher relation. Integration of technology into each stage of the project creates a meaningful learning experience. Effective tech integration changes classroom dynamics, encouraging student-centered project-based learning. PBL challenges students to design and engage in more authentic, extended, and complex learning. But while PBL is a trusted strategy for increasing student engagement and learning, it's not easy to orchestrate. There are tons of moving pieces, and if you're doing it right, students will be engaging in a variety of interest-driven projects all with various needs and on different schedules. So how do you manage it all...

Project Based Learning (PBL)

Hello everyone! Today’s topic is going to be about a method that is a huge help for students regarding their grades and information intake, to be precise project base learning. So what is it you might ask?Project based learning, also known as PBL, is a teaching method that encourages students to take education into their own hands. The academic definition I found on google is, “A teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem or challenge”. Students are guided through this process using carefully designed instructional materials and workshops to help learn the material, then are given the tools and skills needed to come up with their own creative and unique solution or response to the challenge. Teachers work closely with teams to help guide their creation and push students to a deep level of understanding of course content. Projects may look VERY different fro...
