Hey everyone!
Since this week’s topic is at our hands again, I’m going to give a detailed description of our final project, which by now you all have seen and took part in, but also those that didn’t have the chance to be present can read about it. Let me describe what it included, how it went, the difficulties we encountered, how did we feel and why was interactive PPT so helpful.
The night before the presentation we practiced a lot and felt confident about the content and time management. The PPT presentation included many animations and transitions, which made the lesson better and more interactive and this way kept the students focused and grabbed their attention at all time. It was rather difficult getting everything perfect and according to our liking, because after all there is always place for improvement. The content was well thought and organized: the first slide included opening the lesson with a welcoming phrase written on an animated black board; the second slide held the objectives of the lesson, again in a blackboard; at the third slide you can see a almost 4 min’ long video where it shows all the problems with the environment, especially man-made, as this was the topic “OUR WORLD” ; then we continue to an animated book, where the pages flip through transitions, this book contains the key words of the day, and then four exercises related to these words and lesson. At the last slides pupils had their homework assigned, where they had to write a letter replying to another letter written in the book. So, this was practically the content we incorporated and how we structured it.
As we needed to start the presentation me and my partner experienced some problems, as we came to realization that neither of us had enough megabytes to ensure that we could go on with the project successfully, so we had to accelerate the pace to make certain it would be a success. Both, me and Elona were feeling tensed, worried and a little bit confused since time-to-time pages got stuck due to lack of sufficient internet connection, or she couldn’t hear me so we kind of winged it. It was one of the most stressful days because of all the difficulties, and when we finally finished presenting, we were at the same time relieved that we were able to continue till the end, but also anxious whether the professor would like it or not. But thankfully all our worries were for no reason, since the professor was reasonable ad understanding the whole time, she also praised our work from the beginning to the end and boosted our confidence more than you could think of, and we couldn’t be more grateful. From our professor perspective it met every point she wanted the presentations to have, especially now that we have them online.
And I don’t think that we could have done better with any other tool, rather than PPT. How did it help us so much? When effectively planned and used, PowerPoint can enhance instruction. People are divided on the effectiveness of this presentation program, some say that PowerPoint is wonderful while others reassure you that is not worth your time, but from my perspective if you know how to use it for sure you’re not going to regret making use of it. Also, no matter which side you take, PowerPoint does offer effective ways to enhance instruction when used and designed appropriately. It can be an effective tool to present material in the classroom and encourage student learning, as you saw by our presentation and others that used it also. You can use PPT to project visuals that would otherwise be difficult to bring to class, or in my case it brought that classroom vibe or feeling into our online meetings.
That was all regarding this week, can’t say it wasn’t tiring but after all the amazing comments everyone made, it was worth it.
See ya next week 😊!
